Woman found dead in Mcdonald's parking lot

- A woman who drove from an apartment complex where she was shot may have been targeted according to the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office.

Investigators said a man called 911 and reported someone shot his girlfriend, identified as Ivonne Rivera-Ramis, Thursday night. Deputies responded to the McDonald's parking lot near 78th and Palm River Road, where they located the injured woman. Deputies tried helping the woman and could not save her. She died a short time later.

According to preliminary information released by the sheriff's office, the woman showed up for a meeting at the Rivergate Communities apartment complex on Rivergate Drive. Someone fired at least one shot. A bullet struck the victim who drove away with her boyfriend in the car.

The victim's boyfriend alerted authorities who arrived at the McDonald's parking lot two miles away.

Detectives searched by air and by ground for the killer as canine units tracked the area for leads. Crime scene technicians took pictures and collected evidence. A tow truck operator removed a car from the McDonald's parking lot.

An HCSO spokesperson told Fox 13 investigators wanted to obtain a search warrant to enter the vehicle and look for any clues.

The 24-Hour McDonald's restaurant shut down for hours during the HCSO investigation. The business reopened before 5 a.m. An HCSO investigator told Fox 13 detectives planned to review surveillance video from the restaurant and the apartment complex Friday.

Authorities told reporters the shooting did not appear to be random.  Based on preliminary information from both scenes, investigators said drugs may be involved in the case.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Hillsborough County Sheriff's office or report tips anonymously through Crimestoppers.
