- The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office is investigating a jewelry store burglary.

The crime happened overnight Monday at Safa Jewelry on Hillsborough Avenue.

Deputies said the suspect, a white man with a thick beard, smashed the store's glass using a tire iron. He injured himself in the process.

The man then jumped the counter and opened several drawers before stealing two cash registers.
