TAMPA, Fla. - The Tampa Theatre is hosting a free screening of Willie Wonka and the Chocolate Factory to celebrate the life of actor Gene Wilder, who passed away Monday at the age of 83.
"We were heartbroken to learn of the passing of Gene Wilder," said a release by the Tampa Theatre. "A true film legend, he elevates every scene and every movie he’s in, and the world is a little less cheerful without him in it," the release said.
The screening of the 1971 family classic will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 10 at the Tampa Theatre.
No tickets are required, according to the theatre, but patrons are encouraged to arrive early because seating is limited.
Doors open at 1 p.m.
