NOKOMIS, Fla. - Surfers moved quickly in the rough waters off the coast of Nokomis Thursday to rescue a woman who was swept away by a wave.
Dale Wilde, of Columbus, Ohio, was at the beach watching the surfers when she saw the woman standing on the jetty just before the wave knocked her over.
Wilde said lifeguards blew their whistle to get the woman's attention and get her to move away from the jetty, but she didn't heed the warning. A second later, the wave overtook her.
Two surfers nearby were able to get to her and pull her from the water.
The lifeguards eventually caught up to them and carried her to EMS. There is no word on her condition, but she appears to have some cuts and bruises.
