2 teens in serious condition after crashing stolen car


The St. Pete Police Department is investigating an accident that required 2 people to be extricated from the vehicle, including the 14-year-old driver.


Police say the 14-year-old and his 15-year-old passenger were driving at a high rate of speed on 11th Avenue South in St. Petersburg when they hig a dip in the road way. The teen lost control after hitting a dip in the roadway and he lost control. The car left the road and struck a tree.


Due to the amount of damage to the vehicle, both teens had to be cut out of the vehicle by St. Pete Fire & Rescue. Both were transported to Bayfront Health with serious injuries.


During the investigation it was discovered that the car was stolen. Charges are pending.
