Thousands gather for memorials on 15th anniversary of 9/11

- Thousands of people across the Tampa Bay area gathered on the 15th anniversary of the September 11th attacks.

Several memorial ceremonies were held Sunday to honor and remember the victims of 9/11.

In Palm Harbor, hundreds of people attended a ceremony at Curlew Hills Memory Gardens. Mickey Kross, a 9/11 survivor and retired FDNY firefighter, was the keynote speaker at Curlew Hills Sunday morning.

In Clearwater, firefighters at all of the city's fire stations brought their trucks out with lights on at 9:40 a.m. and held a moment of silence.

The city of North Port also participated in a 9/11 memorial ceremony Sunday morning. First responders marched from a fire station to the Flag Circle, where the flag was at half-staff.

In New York City, thousands attended the 9/11 commemoration ceremony at Ground Zero, where there were several moments of silence and the reading of the nearly 3,000 names of those killed in the September 11th attacks.
