Search for injured boater to resume Saturday

- Rescue workers paused the search for a boater who was apparently injured in an accident off the Courtney Campbell Causeway boat ramp.

They search was slated to resume Saturday morning. 

According to Tampa police, it was just after 3 p.m. when the man was in a rental boat with his fiancée.  The boat hit a sandbar, so the man -- as yet publicly unidentified -- jumped off the boat to push it free, but went under water.  The boat drifted as he attempted to remain afloat, resurfacing twice. 

When he did not resurface a third time, his fiancée called 911. 

TPD Marine and Dive units, as well as the Coast Guard and Clearwater Police Marine units, are searching for the man.
