The accident happened around 4:15 p.m. at 13th Avenue S and Dr. MLK Jr. Street S.

Investigators say the boy was crossing Dr. MLK Jr. Street South in the 1300 block. When he ran from the median to cross the road, a Ford F150 pick-up truck, headed north on Dr. MLK Jr. Street, struck him.

Paramedics rushed the boy to All Children's Hospital, where he is listed in critical condition.

The driver of the truck cooperated with officers at the scene and there were no signs of impairment.
