TAMPA (FOX 13) - A worker who fell into the channel next to the Tampa Convention Center was rescued Monday morning, but later succumbed to his injuries.
Tampa Fire Rescue says Johnnie Norton was pressure-washing the docks along the Riverwalk when he fell under and did not resurface.
Tampa police divers found Norton underwater and pulled him out. He was taken to Tampa General Hospital with what police described as life-threatening injuries, but later died
Police say the 53-year-old was an employee of C&W Services, which had been subcontracted to pressure wash the docks outside the convention center.
