Plane crashes onto parked vehicle in Polk County

- 300 members of a church in Polk County are counting their blessings after they narrowly missed being hit by a plane.

Emergency officials say it happened just after noon in the parking lot of the Good Hope Missionary Baptist Church in Bartow.

An Associate Pastor of the church said he and his congregation were in the middle of worship when they heard a loud noise.

"One of our deacons came out of the back of the church and he walked out and when he came back in he said a plane crashed," said Pastor Kenneth Stephens.

The pilot of the plane was taken to the hospital with serious, but non-life threatening injuries. No one else on the ground was injured.

The National Transportation Safety Board will be on scene Monday morning to continue the investigation.
