GIBSONTON (FOX 13)
The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office arrested a 57-year-old man accused of attacking his neighbor and his dog with a machete while they were out for a walk.
Wilson Dorman is charged with aggravated animal cruelty and aggravated battery with a deadly weapon. He has since bonded out of jail.
Deputies said Edwin Stoner, 22, and Dorman got into an argument Sunday afternoon on Nundy Avenue as Stoner was taking his dog, Red, for a walk.
Dorman then went home and returned with a machete, deputies said.
"My dog laid down in front of the guy, and the guy just starts to whaling on my dog," Tina Rodriguez, Stoner's sister, said.
"And when he brought the machete up, the dog just laid down. Instantly laid down. And he just got on top and started hitting it," Rudy Rodriguez said.
Stoner has several cuts and scrapes to his head, face, stomach and legs.
Red received the brunt of the attack. He has two machete wounds: one six-inch gash on his left side and a three-inch laceration to his back.
Tina and Rudy did not immediately take the three-year-old mix to the vet because they said they can't afford it.
"He needed to be sewn up. He still probably does, but we took care of him as best we could at home," Tina said.
Dorman has since bonded out of the Hillsborough County Jail.
