70-year-old pedestrian dies in Ruskin car crash

- A 70-year-old man passed away following a traffic crash in Hillsborough County. 

The crash occurred Sunday before 9 p.m., according to Hillsborough County deputies. The victim was walking northbound on 24th Street, near 11th Avenue while pushing a shopping cart, they say.

An 18-year-old female was driving a Kia northbound on 24th Street at about 40 mph, according to the sheriff’s office. She struck the pedestrian within one of the travel lanes, and he died at the scene. 

Deputies say the driver remained on scene. No other details were provided including whether charges will be filed or the victim's identity, but officials say the crash remains under investigation.
