Vandal causes $5,000 in damage using skateboard

- A vandal armed with a skateboard was caught by surveillance cameras damaging an elevator door in the new State Street Parking Garage. 

Police said it happened January 12 around 7:50 p.m. in the garage at 1538 State Street. 

Detectives believe the person seen in the video is a juvenile. They said before the suspect is seen throwing a skateboard at the elevator's outside door, several males could be seen skateboarding in the garage. 

The suspect's repeated blows to the door caused what officers said amounts to between $5,000 and $8,000 in damage.
