Student, bus driver injured during head-on crash

- A criminal investigation was underway into a crash involving a Laurel Nokomis Middle School bus and a Chevy Cobalt early Monday evening.

The Venice Police Department said it happened around 2:45 p.m. near Waters Street on Pinebrook Road. Officers believe the Chevy drove into the path of the bus, hitting it head-on.

One student, the bus driver and the driver of the Chevy were taken to the hospital with minor injuries.

Police said officers were trying to find out if the driver of the Chevy could have been impaired and the status of his driver's license.
