WINTER HAVEN (FOX 13) - A Winter Haven High School student has been charged with attacking a man and his pregnant girlfriend. Now, deputies are looking for the rest of the attackers.
Winter Haven police say it happened Saturday around 7:45 p.m., when the man and his girlfriend went to Lake Maude Park to meet up with some friends.
As they arrived and got out of their car, the man said someone ran up and started punching, kicking and hitting him with a blunt object.
Not long after, four others joined in on the attack, but the victim said he definitely recognized one of them as 17-year-old Terron Boone.
Police say the girlfriend initially stayed in the car, but then got out, in fear that her boyfriend would be seriously injured, and tried to pull his attackers off of him. She was thrown to the ground, and punched in the back as the beating to her boyfriend continued.
She then said as she got up, she saw two of the attackers walking towards her, and that one of them was pointing a black shotgun or rifle directly at her.
The guys ended up ransacking the victims’ car before the entire group eventually took off.
The boyfriend was left with multiple gashes and abrasions and was rushed to Winter Have Hospital for treatment. His girlfriend also had scrapes from the fall.
Police say Boone later turned himself in, saying “whooped him” in retaliation to previous fight.
He was arrested and charged with one count of Robbery with Deadly Weapon, and thought he turned himself in, he refused to out his accomplices.
Detectives now ask anyone with information regarding the incident or possible identities of the other subject to call Heartland Crime Stoppers at 1-800-226-TIPS (8477). Callers can remain anonymous and could be eligible for a CASH reward of up to $3,000.
