Some adoption fees have been reduced to $4 for the month of July at the Hillsborough County Pet Resource Center.

In addition, first responders and military personnel can add a furry friend to their families for free.

The Pet Resource Center, Hillsborough County's official animal shelter said its kennels are full and needs to find homes for its loving animals.

The $4 fee applies to dogs 40 pounds or larger that have already been spayed/neutered, vaccinated, micro chipped and registered. The fee also includes a Hillsborough County pet license tag. These services would cost as much as $400 at a vet's office.

The shelter is located at 440 N. Falkenburg Road. Military personnel and first responders must present a valid ID to receive the free adoption special.

The Pet Resource Center will be closed Monday, July 4, and resume normal hours Tuesday, July 5.
