After biting man's hand off, alligator caught and killed

The alligator that ripped off part of a Lakeland man's arm while he was hiding from police has been captured and killed.

Family members of Jesse Kinsinger say he was having a psychological problem Wednesday night and ran away.  They called police to help find him.

At some point, the 21-year-old ended up in the lake behind his apartment.  That's when a 10-foot alligator bit off most of his forearm.

His brother-in-law wrapped a tourniquet around the wound until paramedics got there.

Jesse will not face any charges, but is undergoing psychiatric evaluation.  We're told he's had two surgeries so far, and may lose his entire arm.

The gator was euthanized earlier this morning.
