TAMPA, Fla. (FOX 13) - Tampa will be nearly covered in green for another year of Mayor’s River O’ Green Fest event.
This year, it will take place the day before St. Patrick’s Day: March 16. A large portion of the Hillsborough River along the Riverwalk will turn into a vibrant green from a biodegradable coloring.
Officials have said the coloring is a non-toxic product and biodegradable, making it safe for both humans and wildlife. They said it is used in food, and even during eye surgeries to trace blood vessels.
Tampa city officials said the Mayor’s River O’ Green Fest will kick off at 11 a.m. and end at 5 p.m. There will be a leprechaun contest, delicious food, cold beer and live music.
