Armed suspect injures Clearwater officers during arrest

- Three Clearwater police officers suffered injuries while arresting a suspect who was armed with a knife Saturday night.

The incident happened shortly before 11 p.m. on Clearwater Beach in the marina parking lot off Causeway Boulevard.

The officers were called to the area following reports of a man beating a woman. After arriving on scene, the officers began to arrest 36-year-old Justin Shuford.

Police said Shuford was armed with a knife and attacked the officers, causing stab and cutting wounds. The officers were treated at a hospital and are expected to be okay.

Shuford is facing a slew of charges, including attempted murder.
