Arrest made in 2009 Gibsonton murder

An arrest has been made in the 2009 murder of a 21-year-old in Gibsonton thanks to the continued investigation by Hillsborough County sheriff's detectives.

HCSO says the suspect is currently in jail, having been charged with another homicide in 2013.

 

On November 8, 2009, the body of Victor Martinez, 21, was found in the area of Powell Road and Highway 41 South in Gibsonton.

Investigators say he was shot in the middle of his back and in his head.

After almost 10 years of investigation, detectives developed sufficient evidence to charge Charles Andrew Martinez, 28, with the murder of Victor Martinez.

Charles Martinez was 20 at the time of the alleged murder. 

HCSO says Charles Martinez now faces new charges of first-degree murder with a firearm and grand theft - motor vehicle.
