Arrest made in killing of Durant HS football player

- The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office said a man has been arrested in connection with the fatal shooting of a local high school student.

Grover Wills, 18, was shot at a Mobil gas station West Lumsden Road on April 15. Deputies said an associate drove him to a nearby hospital, where he died.

According to investigators, the shooting was the result of a drug transaction gone bad. Detectives said Wills attempted to purchase marijuana from 20-year-old Samuel Morrissey Jr. using fake money that was wrapped in legitimate bills.

Deputies said that when Morrissey Jr. noticed the fake money, a struggle ensued and he shot Wills once.

According to HCSO, Morrissey Jr. admitted to shooting the victim, who was a football player at Durant High School.

The suspect was arrested and charged with second-degree murder.
