Attempted bank robber denied entry into bank, deputies said.

A potential bank robber demanded access into a bank, but the teller didn’t give in, deputies said.

Pinellas County deputies need the public’s assistance in identifying the suspect, who attempted to rob a TD Bank in unincorporated Clearwater, they said.

Detectives said at about 5:14 p.m. on Wednesday, the suspect entered the bank lobby, which is located at 28100 U.S. Highway 19. While inside, the suspect was seen in surveillance video approaching the closed gate of the TD Bank and tried to lift it up. After, he displayed a handgun to the teller who was behind the secured gate.

The robbery attempt didn’t go much further than this. The suspect demanded access inside the bank, but was denied, detectives said, and the suspect fled from the bank in an unknown direction.

The suspect is described as a white male, about 5’7 feet tall, skinny build, and was wearing a black short-sleeve shirt, black pants, a T-shirt wrapped around his head and sunglasses.
