Bay area family's home to get 'Military Makeover'

A Bay area military family is getting a makeover- to their home, that is.

It comes a little more than two years after Lance Corporal Devin Kyle of Pinellas Park, Fla. was injured in combat while serving with the Marines in Afghanistan.

The family says he was working alongside the Afghan National Army and the Afghan Uniformed Police in September of 2013, when suddenly an enemy sniper shot him in the leg.

His injuries were severe, resulting in a total of six emergency surgeries that week, and at least four more once he arrived back in the states.

Since his return, Kyle's family says his leg has mostly healed, but the emotional scars, and the PTSD, remain.

It's family- his wife, Joanna, and his 3-year-old daughter, Raelynn- that motivates him to keep getting better, and now, they all have something big to look forward to.

The home they share is getting a “Military Makeover”, thanks to the show on Lifetime with co-hosts Art Edmonds and the legend, Gunnery Sergeant R. Lee Ermy.

The premise is to find military families in need- like the Kyles- and upgrade, or even replace, their homes.

After being selected to be on the show, the Kyles are preparing for the big reveal.

It's set to take place today at 102nd Avenue and 56th Street North at 3:30 p.m., and crowds are encouraged to attend!

FOX 13 will have updates following the event!
