- Deputies are investigating after a body was found at Fort DeSoto Park this morning.

The sheriff’s office says a call came in not long after 11 a.m. after a beachgoer spotted the body on the park’s east beach.

According to detectives, the body of 57-year-old Dyrle Burkett was found in the water near the shore. They said he died from "unnatural causes" and had previously made statements about harming himself.
