Broward Elementary students greeted by dads on first day of school

Students at Broward Elementary in Tampa had a very special welcome for their first day of school, as fathers lined up to cheer them on.

It is the school’s second year of the “Million Father March,” where fathers of the students are encouraged to bring them to school, help them get their free breakfast meals, and walk them to their classrooms. Broward Elementary School is one of the school district’s “Achievement School,” which is an initiative to help high-needs students with additional support and resources.

On Friday morning, fathers lined the hallways giving high-fives, cheers and claps to start off the first day of school in the county.

According to the organizers, “the presence of positive male role models helps set up the students for success.”  They hope to launch an All Pro Dads chapter at the school this year.
