TAMPA, Fla. (FOX 13) - Burglars took hundreds of dollars of food and drinks from the Interbay Little League concession stand. Gary Tudor runs the stande while his son plays on one of the teams, and said he spent the morning cleaning up the mess left behind by the thieves.
“All of these shelves were freshly stocked with all new candy bars, blow pops, muffins and honey buns and stuff like that,” Tudor said.
But the thieves didn’t stop with the goods; they also cleaned out the cash box.
“There was about $120 to $150 in cash in there,” he said.
What was most shocking, Tudor said, was how the bandits made their way in.
“I noticed the big hole in the dry wall where they kicked through the women’s restroom to crawl in here,” he said.
On the other side of that wall was a women’s restroom, left unlocked because it is currently out of order. Tudor said the burglars were able to punch, kick and pull away the drywall in order to crawl through there.
They even used the stand’s trash cans to carry away all of the stolen goods.
Tudor said he can’t imagine who would do this to a non-profit Little League team.
“Our season just started, and I had to come out of pocket to stock all of the shelves, stock all of the fridges,” he said. "This is a heavy blow for someone that doesn’t have much.”
