St. Petersburg police arrested 27-year-old Juan Carlos Juares at a residence in unincorporated Pinellas County. Detectives said they identified Juares as a suspect based on witness interviews and evidence.

Police searched for Juares starting around 1 a.m. Thursday morning after getting the call about a seriously injured man lying in the parking lot of a closed Citgo gas station on the corner of 38th Avenue North and 28th Street.

The man was later identified as 60-year-old John Andrew Hutchens,  a cab driver for United Taxi of Clearwater. Officers administered lifesaving measures, but he died at the scene.

The investigation continues.
