Car break-ins plaguing Pasco County

-

It is something detectives see time and time again, surveillance video showing a young adult or teenager, rummaging through an unlocked car stealing in the middle of the night.

Investigators in Pasco County are dealing with possibly one of their largest cases yet.  Deputies say a total of four subdivisions have been hit, near Land O Lakes and Wesley Chapel.

Public information officer Kevin Doll says detectives think three to five suspects are to blame.

"At this point we are trying to determine if all of the cases are interrelated with the same suspects," Doll said.

Video from a house in the Ballantrae Subdivision shows one of the suspects glaring right into the camera.

Authorities say too often, in nice neighborhoods people let their guard down and that is how they become victims.

“Lock your car doors, don’t leave valuables inside,” Doll said.  “You’d be surprised by how many people become repeat victims.”

Doll says Pasco Deputies have at least one lead, and are hoping someone recognizes one of the suspects from the video and contacts them.
