Wrong-way driver dies after Courtney Campbell crash

- The driver of a car that crashed going the wrong way on the Courtney Campbell Causeway died Sunday morning, according to police. 

The crash happened shortly after 4 a.m. on the westbound access road, Clearwater police said.

According to investigators, Scott Anthony Wolf was driving the wrong way along the access road when he lost control and landed in the water.

The driver was pulled from the vehicle by a Pinellas County deputy who responded to the crash. He is said to have possible life-threatening injuries.

The westbound lanes were closed while crews search for any other occupants of the vehicle. One westbound lane has since reopened.
