Caretaker charged with murder in Bradenton woman's death

- The Manatee County Sheriff's Office said it arrested a 51-year-old man in connection with a woman's homicide on Friday.

According to investigators, 61-year-old Joan Demeo was found deceased with upper body trauma Friday afternoon in the carport of her home in the Royal Garden Estates neighborhood. A co-worker had called authorities after Demeo didn't return from her lunch break.

Deputies quickly developed a person of interest, Barak Pozas, who lived with Demeo and acted as a caretaker for her.

Pozas was found by deputies at a bar not far from the scene of the homicide. After investigating further, Pozas was arrested and charged with murder.

Investigators said the motive for the homicide is unclear.
