Carjacking suspect makes apparent suicide attempt

- A man police said may have been involved in carjackings in Bradenton, Sarasota and Palmetto apparently tried to commit suicide as officers tried to capture him Tuesday evening.

Detectives were looking for 20-year-old Cody Morrison. He was a suspect in two carjackings and an armed robbery in Manatee County.

The first carjacking happened at WaWa on Manatee Avenue near Palmetto. Police said he walked up to a woman pumping gas and forcibly took her car keys.

He then stole someone's car at a 711 in Sarasota.

He was also wanted for an armed robbery at the Circle K in Bradenton.

Detectives said Morrison shot himself as he was running away from police Tuesday evening.
