Cinemark movie theaters to ban large bags

A large movie chain announced moviegoers will no longer be able to bring large bags inside its theaters.

Starting Thursday, February 22, Cinemark will not allow any bags or packages measuring larger than 12 inches by 12 inches by 6 inches inside the theaters, the company announced. Exceptions may be for medical equipment and diaper bags.

The company said the policy is “ an effort to enhance the safety and security of our guests and employees.”

Cinemark said there will not be a checkpoint area, but they reserve the right to inspect all bags and packages entering the theater.

There is one Cinemark location in Tampa Bay, which is located in Lakeland at 3800 U.S. Highway 98 North.
