Citrus S.O. says man shot, killed father

- Citrus County deputies say a Lecanto man shot and killed his father in their home early Saturday morning.

It happened just before 4:00 a.m. at the home on West Starlight Path.  Detectives say 52-year-old James Troy May told them his father, 89-year-old Jack May, was angry and became violent towards him throughout the day Friday.  Their fight escalated, and the son says he retrieved a gun and shot his father.  He then allegedly fell asleep and didn't call authorities until he woke up.

Deputies found the father dead when they arrived at the home.  James May was arrested and taken to the Citrus County Detention Center.  He faces second degree murder charges.  The investigation remains underway.
