Clearwater police investigating car theft that left 1 dead

- One man is dead after a shooting and possible carjacking that happened Monday night in Clearwater.

Clearwater police tell FOX 13 News a group of people met at the Bank of America at the corner of Belcher and Belleair roads around 8 p.m. 

A woman called authorities and said her red Hyundai Veloster was stolen and she shot at the suspects.

A short time later, the car showed up at Mease Countryside Hospital.  Investigators say the driver wasn’t hurt, but the passenger had been shot and didn’t make it.

Everyone involved is being questioned, and police are working to figure out exactly what happened. 

We're told everyone involved somehow knew each other, and this wasn’t random.
