Body of missing kayaker found in water near Gibsonton

- Florida Fish and Wildlife officials said they have found the body of a missing kayaker.

Officials said 44-year-old Mark Fancher's green kayak was found around 12:30 p.m. Saturday close to Bird Island near Gibsonton. 

Fancher's car keys were located in the kayak, but he was nowhere to be found. Fancher's wife told officials that her husband left in his kayak from Gibsonton around 6 a.m.

FWC crews found the man's body shortly after 9 a.m. not far from Bullfrog Creek. The incident is being investigated as a fatal boating accident.
