Cold blast reaches Bay Area; temps drop to 30s for some

Saturday night into Sunday morning will bring the coldest temperatures of the season so far in the Bay Area. 

FOX 13 Meteorologist Tyler Eliasen says there are no official freeze warnings in the northern counties of Hernando, Pasco, and Citrus, but parts of the area will briefly hit the freezing mark.

Because of small craft warnings, the St. Petersburg Holiday Light Boat Parade scheduled Saturday night was canceled.

Pasco County officials will open the Joining Hands Missions on US 19 in Holiday and Restored Hope in east Pasco for those needing shelter.

Hernando County officials said the following shelters have been set up:

-Jericho Road Ministries, Homeless Shelter and Rescue Mission

-Men’s Shelter, 1090 Mondon Hill Road, Brooksville, 352-799-2912 Ext. 103

-Women’s Shelter, 1163 Howell Avenue, Brooksville, 352-799-2912 Ext. 109

Winter weather dropped snow across the southeastern US Friday and Saturday - from Augusta to Atlanta, causing travel delays and cancellations all the way down into Florida.

On Friday, nearly 200 delays and cancellations stranded passengers at Tampa International Airport.

By noon Saturday, half of all flights through Atlanta, Boston, Miami and New York were either delayed or canceled according to flightaware.com's Misery Map.

After snow fell on its Atlanta hub, Delta has canceled more than 1000 flights and counting, causing deep ripple effects for passengers across the country.
