TAMPA, Fla. (FOX 13) - Thursday marked day four of testimony in the John Jonchuck trial. The defense called five witnesses as part of its argument that Jonchuck was insane when he threw his daughter, Phoebe, off the Dick Misener Bridge back in 2015.
Among the witness was a lawyer who worked with Jonchuck on paperwork regarding custody of Phoebe. As part of her testimony, the lawyer recalled an encounter with Jonchuck on January 7, 2015 -- just 14 hours before Phoebe’s death.
She said Jonchuck told her she was God, and then that he was God. She said he also demanded she read his Swedish Bible to him.
She called 911 after he left her office.
The prosecution rested its case Wednesday morning after four days of difficult testimony.
Defense attorneys asked the judge to dismiss the case, saying the prosecution had not proven there was criminal premeditation. But the judge disagreed and ordered the trial to continue.
Jonchuck's defense has a list of 17 witnesses it plans to call in the following days.
