Crash kills child in Thonotosassa Christmas Eve

- An 11-year-old was killed in an accident on U.S. 301 at Walker Road Christmas Eve. 

Florida Highway Patrol said it happened at 2:30 Saturday afternoon. A Saturn Ion was on Walker Road at 301, but did not yield before turning into the path of a Volkswagen Cabrio. The Volskwagen hit the Saturn. 

An 11-year-old was riding as a passenger in the Saturn and suffered fatal injuries. The driver of the Saturn, an adult female, suffered minor injuries and was taken to the hospital. Both were wearing seatbelts.

The driver and passenger in the Volkswagen, both adults, had minor injuries, but did not go to the hospital. Both were wearing seatbelts. 

FHP did not suspect alcohol to be a factor in the crash. Troopers were sill investigating.
