TERRA CEIA, Fla. (FOX 13) - A truck was left partially dangling over the edge of the Sunshine Skyway Bridge after an accident in the northbound lanes this morning.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the truck failed to stop for slow traffic and slammed into the back of a Honda Civic. The force of the crash spun the Honda around and sent the truck onto the retaining wall, its right front tire hanging over the water.
The crash blocked one lane of northbound traffic south of the hump, causing a long backup.
Tow trucks were eventually able to lift the truck off the barrier and clear the scene.
The driver of the Honda suffered "incapacitating" injuries, troopers said.
The truck's driver, identified as Michael Jonathan Perry Wood, was cited for causing the crash.
