DADE CITY, Fla. (FOX 13) - Police responded to what they thought might be a bank robbery in Dade City this morning, but it turned out to be a misunderstanding.
According to a police spokesman, a teller at the Wells Fargo on 7th Street reported that a customer had carried what appeared to be a gun into the bank, then left and drove away.
Police caught up with the car a few minutes later and stopped the couple, a husband and wife.
The gun turned out to be a cell phone game controller shaped like a gun, police said.
The man said that he was just waiting for his wife to finish her transaction at the bank. No charges were filed.
The man who brought the controller into the bank was pulled over by Police minutes later in a parking lot down the street from the bank. Police had guns drawn. They say he fully complied.
