TAMPA, Fla. (FOX 13) - If your home was damaged by Hurricane Irma, you have until Friday to apply for the Rebuild Florida program.
The program helps low-income Floridians pay for home repairs caused by Irma in 2017. Priority goes to low-income families with elderly residents or children, as well as individuals with disabilities.
The state says many people are still struggling, even after insurance payouts and help from other government programs.
“There are still blue tarps on roofs and people suffering,” stated Ken Lawson, the executive director of the Department of Economic Opportunity. “We want to make sure that those who have been harmed by Irma know that we haven’t forgotten at DEO. We are here to assist them with restoring their home.”
