A scammer who identifies herself as a bank representative is trying to get debit card information from elderly people in Pinellas County, the sheriff's office said.

The Pinellas County Sheriff's Office said deputies are looking for a black female, around 30-years-old, standing 5' 7" with a thin build. She is suspected of calling elderly residents and pretending to be a representative from their bank. She tells them they need to exchange their debit card for a new chip card.

Then she offers to send a bank representative to the victim's home to resolve the issue. But she's apparently the one who shows up and exchanges the debit card, along with the card's pin number, and promises the victim will get a new chip card in the mail.

The suspect then uses the card to drain the victim's accounts of funds through withdraws and buying gift cards at local stores.

Detectives hope someone will hear about the scam and contact them before the suspect shows up at their door.

The sheriff's office said it was first notified about the scam on Friday, October 28. There are three known victims in Pinellas County, so far.

Anyone with information on this scam is asked to call Detective J. Holden at the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office at (727) 582-6200 or to remain anonymous and be eligible for a reward contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-873-TIPS or www.crimestoppersofpinellas.org.
