Deer rescued from Sarasota County pond

- Two deer were stranded in a Sarasota County country club’s pond.

Unfortunately, one did not survive. Sarasota County deputies and workers with the Wildlife, Inc. Education and Rehabilitation Center responded to the report.

One adult male deer rescued, and according to deputies, “the other was trying his hardest to stay afloat.”

The Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office released video of the rescue. The center employees were seen in a canoe and paddling closer to one of the deer. They grabbed him, released him, and, after he regained his balance, ran off into the surrounding trees.
