Deputies: Man arrested for abusing 3-year-old

- A Sarasota man has been arrested for abusing a 3-year-old girl, deputies.

Nicholas Ritter, 28, brought the child to Sarasota Memorial Hospital early Saturday morning.

Deputies said the girl had bruises to her check and back, fractures to her skull and a cut on her chin.

According to investigators, Ritter told them the injuries were from the child falling. However, doctors agreed that the injuries were caused by blunt force trauma.

The victim was later taken to All Children's Hospital and is in serious condition. 

Ritter was charged with aggravated child abuse.
