Deputies Release Details on Deadly Crash in Brandon

The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office is investigating a fatal crash in Brandon that claimed the life of a 22-year-old Gibsonton woman on Friday. The crash shut down Lumsden Road near the Laviva Shopping Plaza into the late hours of the night.
A crash report reveals the victim, Saija Coleman, died from injuries she sustained when the driver of the Nissan Altima she was a passenger in turned into the path of a Hummer. The impact caused the Hummer to rotate clockwise and overturn onto the Nissan, before resting on its roof. The driver of the Altima, 20-year-old Jayson Upshaw Jr., was taken to Tampa General Hospital with life-threatening injuries.
According to investigators, the driver of the Hummer, 50-year-old Robert Culhane, was transported to Brandon Regional Hospital wth minor injuries. The cause of the crash is under investigation.
