The search is underway for a fleeing driver who happened to hit a deputy Friday morning.

The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office says it happened near Morris Bridge and Copeland Roads Friday sometime before 8 a.m.

Investigators say the driver appeared to be slumped over the wheel of the car when the deputy approached, but then the car took off, clipping the deputy in the process.

The deputy is said to have minor injuries, and is expected to recover.

Meanwhile, several units are now trying to track down the driver after the car headed toward Harney Road and U.S 301.

FOX 13 will continue with updates as they become available.
