Dog abandoned with 'free' sign adopted, named for FOX 13 reporter

One of three dogs found tied to a tree outside the Humane Society of Tampa Bay was adopted and named for the FOX 13 News reporter who brought the pup's story to light.

The little black and white terrier mix was found May 20 tied to a tree with twine, alongside a note reading "FREE." Volunteers at the shelter said she was the second of three dogs abandoned there within just a few days.

Luckily for this pup, her forever home was right around the corner, and apparently fans of FOX 13 News.

The Humane Society of Tampa Bay tweeted a photo Wednesday evening, showing the dog with her new family.

And her new name - Alcides - after FOX 13's Alcides Segui, who reported on the abandoned dogs the week before.

Congratulations to Alcides and her new parents on the adoption!
