Gunfire erupted in South St. Petersburg early Thursday morning, leading police to the discovery of two gunshot victims inside a vehicle parked on 22nd Street S.

St. Pete police say dispatchers took multiple calls for reports of gunfire in the 6400 block of 22nd Street S just before 2 a.m. When officers got there, they found two people shot inside a white, 2017 Toyota RAV4.

Police identified the passenger as 45-year-old Ashland Cleve Jarrett, who lived on 64th Avenue Circle East in Bradenton. The woman in the driver's seat owned the Toyota and lived at the home where the vehicle was parked. 48-year-old Jacqueline Yvette Green died en route to the hospital.

Jarrett died at the scene.

Green's co-workers say she was a certified nursing assistant at Bay Pointe Nursing Pavilion. They say she was a generous woman.

Police said they are looking for a dark-colored Toyota Camry, with possibly two people inside, in connection with the deaths. Officers said the deaths may be drug related. They were seen removing what appeared to be large amounts of marijuana from the home.

According to Pinellas County jail records, Jarrett was charged with drug trafficking in 2009. It's unclear what Green may have known about the drugs inside the home where she was living.
