Driver caught on camera hitting police cruiser, fleeing

- A driver hit a Largo police cruiser and drove off, and it was caught on camera.

Now, police hope the public can help find the person behind the wheel of the black Infinity FX 35 crossover, between 2006 and 2008 models.

It happened around 10:15 a.m. on April 30, in the northbound lanes of U.S. 19 just north of Roosevelt Blvd.

The Largo Police Department said its officer was parked in the curb lane with his emergency lights activated while helping a driver with their disabled vehicle.

The cruiser prevented the hit-and-run driver from hitting the tow truck and the disabled driver. No one was injured.

Anyone with any information is asked to call Lt Block or Sgt Starling at (727) 587-6730.
