Dump truck involved in fatal hit-and-run in Tampa

- Tampa police are investigating a fatal hit-and-run crash involving a dump truck and a pedestrian.

The incident occurred at around 5:40 a.m. Monday morning at the intersection of 53rd Street N. and Columbus Drive E.  

The truck struck an adult male, then left the scene. The man later died. 

A Hillsborough County Sheriff's deputy located a vehicle matching the description of the dump truck near North 50th Street and I-4. It has not yet been confirmed that it is the truck that was involved in the fatal collision.

Both directions of Columbus Drive between 14th Avenue E. and 55th Street N. have been shut down while officers investigate the crash.
